We understand there are unique challenges you face in pursuing your academic and career goals and want to connect you with the opportunities you need to succeed. ASCC staff welcome you to utilize all the resources we offer. We believe in your potential, and we are committed to helping you achieve great things. Please consider the resources on this page or make an appointment with us to address your concerns, work through challenges, and strengthen your application materials.

Employment options:

If you do not have DACA or are waiting for ongoing legal decisions to be made, there are alternative employment options available. These include accepting an internship without pay and finding other forms of financial support, working as an independent contractor, using an Independent Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), or starting your own business as a member of a Limited Liability Company (LLC).

Legal resources:

National Immigration Legal Services Directory – Nonprofit organizations that are low-cost or free in providing legal services for immigration

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project – “Northwest Immigrant Rights Project promotes justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education.” Up to date DACA resource and information are available along with other legal resources

Workers rights:

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person’s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.

United We Dream – “United We Dream is the largest immigrant youth-led community in the country. We create welcoming spaces for young people – regardless of immigration status – to support, engage, and empower them to make their voice heard and win!”

Paid Family and Medical Leave Benefits in Washington State – immigration status is not considered for eligibility in WA state Paid Family and Medical Leave program.
