70% of Recruiting is Conducted in Fall!

If you’ve been asking yourself, ‘What is the best time to seek an internship or a full-time position for after graduation?’ the answer might surprise you!

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and their annual Job Outlook Survey (2022), 70% of internship recruitment is planned to be conducted during the Fall semester! Follow that up with 67% of recruitment for full time positions in Fall versus 33% in Spring!

This was one of the most shocking pieces of information I learned when I first became a Career Coach. It’s not clear, and it doesn’t make intuitive sense unless you have in-depth knowledge of corporate recruiting.

The Daily Evergreen offers some great advice in their recent article. While I absolutely think reducing anxiety is an excellent goal, I would encourage working ahead and gaining a sense of accomplishment to complement that inner peace! What better opportunity than the Fall Career Expo and Technical Fair? The employers will be coming to you early in October!

If your schedule doesn’t permit, then don’t worry too much. The WSU Spring Career Expo and Spokane FUSE (with WSU Pullman being the newest member) will provide great opportunities for the future.
