The Staff Accountant will work with our finance team in our Washington, DC office. This role involves collaborating with various departments to gather and analyze financial data, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, and preparing financial reports.
Day-to-day, the Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and VP of Finance to ensure the accurate and timely recording of accounts payable in accordance with company policies and with generally accepted accounting principles. As Quadrant continues to grow, this role will have an opportunity to evaluate our current practices in a variety of areas and deliver novel solutions towards improvement. It will also work closely with division leaders, including Research Operations to socialize financial data and provide actionable recommendations off of it.
Responsibilities
- Recording of Accounts Payable invoices and ensuring they are appropriately coded.
- Preparation of Monthly Bank Reconciliations
- Preparation of Monthly Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliations in accordance with monthly close deadline (Related to accounts Staff Accountant is responsible for).
- Reviewing project expenses to ensure all are recorded to the proper projects and classification.
- Ensuring reconciliation of data across accounting softwares.
- Close projects in QuickBooks when projects are finalized.
- Backup to Accounts Receivable when the Staff Accountant is out of office.
- Overseeing the corporate credit card program.
- Ensuring all transactions are documented in a way that is consistent with documentation standards for taxes and audits.
- Ensure documents are saved down to the shared drive and support is attached to transactions in accounting software.
- Assist team with panelist payment-related requests and inquiries.
- Ad hoc tasks and projects as requested.
Expected Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business Administration
- 1-3 years experience in accounting
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software, including Quickbooks Online
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
- Working knowledge of accrual accounting and generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP)
- Experience with international markets preferred
- Driven by improving processes and leading change
- Experience creating new processes and communicating them to all stakeholders
- Detail-oriented and advanced organization skills
- Excellent time management skills, able to handle multiple complex tasks with competing priorities simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative and intellectually curious
- Works well independently and with teams
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Suite
Quadrant’s headquarters is in Washington, DC, but we have offices in New York City, Dallas, London, and Belgrade. Employees may request to work from any of our offices, pending approval based on office availability and an employee’s work authorization status. Our offices are open on a hybrid work model, with employees working in-office at least three days a week, subject to a change in policy.
