The Washington State University STEM Student Support Services was founded in 2020 to support engagement, persistence, and success of historically underrepresented STEM students at WSU. Participants receive integrative advising combining academic, financial, personal, and career guidance; access to emergency grant aid; peer and professional mentoring; and support to engage in high impact experiences.
The STEM SSS Student Success Advisor (SSA) is primarily responsible for providing holistic guidance to assigned program participants through consistent and proactive evaluation of participant academic progress, intervention with appropriate support, and referral to appropriate resources. The SSA develops, implements, and supports the daily delivery of services to participants and is responsible for the maintenance of assigned participant records. Additionally, the SSA will ensure participants meet requirements of active involvement in the program so that the goals and objectives of the grant are met.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (attained on or before June 1, 2024)
- Experience providing student/client services
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of and/or experience with barriers to college success for underrepresented students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of academic regulations, policies, and procedures in higher ed
- Education in a STEM, health science, or related field
- Experience working with academically underprepared and historically-excluded students
- Experience developing academic, career, and cultural events
- Willingness and availability to work irregular hours (evenings and weekends, as needed)
