The teaching assistant position with Pursuit Lab will be supporting a class of students between the ages of 14-21 with disabilities in workplace readiness skills and work-based learning experiences. We have summer in person opportunities at Edmonds College and online opportunities but the virtual ones are limited. The ideal person would be a good team member and support to the lead teacher. This person would be organized and be able to help with essential contract paperwork like gathering attendance over Zoom or in person settings. They would also support by capturing student stories/experiences that would support their strengths/resumes and offering additional accommodations to students that need it in larger groups or in break out rooms. Other contract deliverables include, helping students fill out evaluation forms and this position would be flexible with helping meet new and old requirements. This person would report to the Director of Pre-Employment Transition services.
The ability to work independently and maintain professionalism are essential. Seeing excellence in each student and setting the tone for this in the larger class and small groups is very important. Helping lead out break out rooms or smaller groups to assist the teacher with helping students develop work skills a large part of what this role will entail. Knowledge in how to facilitate or lead by example would be helpful but also initiating to draw out the quieter students in the group.
