National Student Employment Week at WSU

Are you working while getting your degree? If so, National Student Employment Week is for you!

We’re recognizing the hard work of our student employees with an exciting line-up of events this month. The week of April 13th – 17th will hold events each day that is curated specially for our employed students – check them out below!

  • Student Employee of the Year Nominees Announced
Keep an eye on the ASCC’s insta @wsu_ascc for an announcement of who’s been nominated for this year’s Student Employee of the Year Award!
  • Money Habits that Pay Workshop*
You can also join us via zoom or in the ASCC Lobby (Lighty 180) on the Pullman campus from noon-1pm for a workshop on all things money!
Finances are often a major stressor in college. While working your way through college can help offset some costs, it’s often the first time that our students are experiencing financial independence and all that comes with it. That’s why we’ve partnered with Coug Money Matters to bring you a workshop on money management. This workshop will provide you with skills and habits you can start NOW that will make money management that much easier!
Not to mention, at this workshop, lunch is on us – FREE CHICK-FIL-A! (given on a first come, first serve basis) so don’t be late!

The annual Student Employee of the Year Awards Ceremony takes place! During this event, we get to gather together to honor our nominees for this prestigious award. We’ll celebrate their many accomplishments and award our winners. This year we are excited to be including our Employer of the Year in this ceremony too!

There’s refreshments and a photobooth, along with certificates, trophies, and more! We love getting to honor our students who have gone above and beyond in their jobs and recognizing their contributions.

  • This is the day we get to announce our Student Employee of the Year winners to the public! You can expect another post to the ASCC instagram @wsu_ascc – this time with all of our category winners and our overall winner!
  • Books & Boops: De-Stress with Therapy Dogs*
We know balancing work and school can be stressful, that’s why we’re inviting you to spend your lunch with therapy dogs. Pets are shown to noticeably reduce stress, so we’ve got a team of volunteers from Palouse Paws bringing in their dogs for you to hang with. This will be from 11am-1pm in the Cougar Commons – located inside Terrell library on the second floor.

We’ll be holding our Money Habits that Pay workshop* one last time, just in case you couldn’t make it on Monday. Still located in the ASCC Lobby (Lighty 180) or you can join online from 4-5pm. If you loved all the money management tips and tricks you learned on Monday, this is the perfect chance to bring a friend who might benefit as well!
