Women in STEM – New WSU Student Org

Yecenia is a biology major with a minor in chemistry and is planning to attend medical school. Ariela is a kinesiology major planning to attend a graduate program in physical therapy. Emily Sablan, Associate Teaching Professor and Director of Foundational Courses in the Department of Mathematics, advises the group.

This semester, the group has organized successful resume writing and speed interviewing workshops.  They have also connected members with the Office of Undergraduate Research and helped pre-health students find opportunities to gain the observation hours required for their graduate applications. Ariela indicated that they already feel as though they are helping members move a step closer to their goals.

Women in STEM currently has 18 registered members, however, their bi-weekly meetings average 40 attendees. If you are interested in learning more about the organization, the next meeting will be held on December 7th from 4:30-5:30PM in Spark 323.
