What is work study?

Work study is a program that allows WSU students to work while attending school. Work-study students get paid with a combination of federal funds and employer funds from WSU .

There are many different types of work study programs, so it’s important to find the right one for you. Make sure to stay focused and keep up with your schoolwork while working 20-30 hours per week – it’s possible! Once you’ve found an eligible program, apply online and submit your required documents. Don’t forget to ask your professors if they know of any work study programs in their field of study. Happy studying!

To be eligible for work study, you must first apply and be accepted into the federal program. If you qualify for work-study, you will find out through your WSU email account at the end of the spring semester.

Who is eligible for work study?

You are eligible for Work-Study if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • At least $4,000 of unmet need-based eligibility
  • Submit the FAFSA or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) and Verification documents, if needed, by WSU’s priority deadline.
  • Check the box on the FAFSA or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) that says you want to be considered for work-study.
  • Satisfactory academic progress standing with WSU and the Student Financial Services office
