May assist faculty in teaching courses and labs, grading examinations, problem sets, or lab assignments, setting up displays for lectures and labs, or preparing or maintaining laboratory equipment.
General Duties/Expectations
- The duties associated with this position generally comprised of attending class (2.5 hours), attending one weekly prep meeting (1 hour), offer office hours (1 hour), and provide feedback (but not evaluation) for student in class activities (.5 hour) for a total of 5 hours per week. These duties may vary based on the course, professor, enrollment, and needs of the course.
- LAs will provide important support for the professor and students by helping to facilitate discussion, engage with in-class activities (both in person and in the form of feedback), and holding weekly office hours.
- LAs will help to create a small classroom experience and nurture an environment of discussion and discovery as students engage with the class material.
- LA positions are for one semester.
