WORKING TITLE: Learning Facilitator (Tutor)
BASIC FUNCTION: This position is responsible for providing academic support to student-athletes during Washington State Athletics-sanctioned tutoring sessions.
REPORTS TO: Marie Dupre- Tutor Coordinator
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide academic support for student-athletes in accordance with the Learning Services Manual.
· Maintain a professional working relationship with all students on caseload.
· Work with students to develop time management and study skills.
· Assist the on-duty Academic Services staff as needed,
· Provide accurate and timely documentation of all sessions through the Retain portal.
· Attend all required training seminars.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of University procedures and common Microsoft Office applications.
· Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules.
· Knowledge of FERPA laws governing confidentiality.
· Knowledge of Prevention of Sexual Harassment measures.
· Knowledge of Zoom software.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working Conditions
· Most of the work is discharged in an academic resource facility with a maximum level of personal interaction with student-athletes.
· Must keep regular and consistent available hours with additional time needed during peak periods.
· Employee must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously with a high energy level.
· Evening work is necessary.
Physical Requirements
· Normal mobility is required to discharge duties and responsibilities throughout the Pullman campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
. Ability to work via in-person and possibly via Zoom.
· Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete development.
· Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
· Basic computer skills.
· Availability for evening work, Monday – Thursday
· Must be available to work a MINIMUM of 6 hours per week
· Must be available to work at LEAST 2 days per week
· One-year minimum commitment (Fall and Spring semesters of first academic year after hire date)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Familiarity with the following: WSU Academic Rules and Procedures, WSU policies and procedures, NCAA policies and procedures.
· Ability to work with students in a broad range of situations.
· Demonstrate genuine concern and interest for the welfare of student-athletes.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently.
· Ability to initiate and complete projects with specific deadlines.
· Demonstrated strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, career exploration software, website career exploration, e-mail, and Internet.
· Demonstrate commitment and knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
· Demonstrated successful experience working with a diverse student population.
· Demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
· Commitment of 2 years is preferred, but not required.
