Candidates must be accepted into one of the Graduate Programs here at Lander University prior to beginning the position.
Compensation:
Selected candidate will receive a 50% tuition and fee waiver as well as a $3000 stipend per semester. Note that if the GA position does not relate directly to their graduate studies the student will be taxed on the stipend and tuition benefits. Graduate Assistants work approximately 20 hours per week during the school year. Graduate Assistantships may be renewed for one additional year.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Information: Graduate Assistants (GA) for Campus Recreation will report to the Director of Campus Recreation and the Coordinator of Campus Recreation. Graduate Assistants are responsible for implementing policies and procedures, which contribute to the development of a safe, professionally managed, and well-organized Campus Recreation programs and facilities including: The Fitness Center, Intramural Sports, Group Exercise Classes, Outdoor Adventure Programs, Club Sports and Special Events. GA’s will oversee daily operations of Campus Recreation which includes, but is not limited to; creating marketing materials, social media management, student worker training, business operations, facilities management, and other duties as assigned.
- Primary Responsibilities: The Graduate Assistant (GA) reports to both the Director of Campus Recreation and the Coordinator of Campus Recreation. The Graduate Assistant for Marketing & Advertising supports the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives that promote Campus Recreation programs, services, facilities, and events. This position is responsible for content creation, digital marketing, brand management, student engagement campaigns, and advertising strategy. The GA will gain hands-on experience in sports marketing, collegiate recreation branding, and audience analytics.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Experience in fitness, athletics and/or recreation
- Experience in supervision and management
- Experience with graphic design and marketing
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification (required within 3 months of employment)
- Leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with other Campus Recreation staff
- Ability to take initiative on daily tasks and projects
