Director of Marketing and Communications
We are looking for a new Marketing and Communications Director to develop a comprehensive communications and development strategy for the Kids Discovery Museum (KiDiMu). You will oversee brand image and messaging across all communication channels, including public relations, digital marketing, social media, and internal communications, aligned with organizational goals and target audience engagement. You will create marketing and fundraising campaigns, monitor results, and adapt strategies to maximize brand awareness and achieve desired outcomes.
This is an 0.5 FTE position with flexible work hours, and you will report to the KiDiMu Executive Director. Some evening and weekend work may be required for special events, exhibitions, and community outreach. You will work on-site at the museum.
You Will:
- Manage production of ads, posters, brochures and other materials; produce materials personally or work with a graphic designer, assistant or intern
- Manage external advertising purchases, develop vendor relationships, and seek new opportunities
- Create monthly calendars and promote programs, and special events by digital communication, advertising and community calendars
- Produce signage and informational materials for visitors
- Manage social media including Instagram and Facebook
- Manage the maintenance and analytics of our website
- Connect with local nonprofit organizations to provide museum access including in-person programming and/or at-home learning
- Pitch stories to generate PR coverage and serve as a contact for media inquiries
Research funding sources and keep up to date on potential opportunities - Support our Board of Directors and our Executive Director with implementation of strategic goals for fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, and production of development materials and signage.
- Plan the Museum Annual Auction and other fundraising events.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Four or more years of experience in marketing and communications roles - Experience working with or for children’s organizations or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience leading fundraising and development projects
- Knowledge of digital marketing channels, including social media, SEO, and content marketing.
- Experience working with nonprofit boards, donors, and diverse partners.
