Advisor Training

The Academic Success and Career Center (ASCC) provides training for new and experienced advisors here at Washington State University. We currently have a three part series of two-hour sessions called “Foundations of Academic Advising.” They provide a clear, consistent knowledge base to ensure excellence in advising at WSU.

Foundations of Academic Advising

Part One
In this course participants explore the foundation of advising, basic tools and knowledge needed to assist students through their academic advising experience. It provides hands-on opportunities including in-depth information about the tools and resources available to advisors at WSU.  This workshop will be available on two occasions:

Monday, February 12
2:00-4:30 p.m.
Spark 339

Tuesday, February 13

Part Two
This course further explores the foundations of advising and expands upon the knowledge gained through Foundations of Academic Advising Part 1. It provides participants with opportunities, through case studies and interactive activities, to build upon their knowledge of how to communicate effectively with students in an advising session. Participants also learn about the variety of resources available for students in order to make effective referrals.  This workshop will be available on two occasions:
