Advisor Training

The Academic Success and Career Center (ASCC) provides training for new and experienced advisors here at Washington State University. We currently have a three part series of two-hour sessions called “Foundations of Academic Advising.” They provide a clear, consistent knowledge base to ensure excellence in advising at WSU.

Advising 101 provides a basic overview of graduation requirements, transfer credit, General Education Requirements/University Common Requirements, placement examinations, and the schedule of studies.

Advising 102 outlines advising theories and approaches, reinstated students, effective communication and opportunities for practice.

Advising 103 covers WSU’s information system zzusis including service indicators, placement exam scores, contacting advisees, and searching for courses.

This training series is recognized by the Washington State University Academic Advising Association (WSUACADA) as fulfilling the Level I training certification.
