Start your legal journey with White & Case. Join our US Trade Virtual Learning Program.

Welcome to White & Case’s CladToAssist international trade and customs team. In this program, we’ll show you what it’s like to be a junior associate from our “Team Customs” and have you handle a number of tasks for one of the Firm’s key clients—a global cookware company called CladToAssist. As you move through the program, you’ll get assignments directly from three senior international trade and customs lawyers, and you’ll get tips on how best to approach and complete those assignments from three international trade and customs associates.

The assignments in this program are designed to be completed chronologically, so please don’t jump ahead to the next part until you’ve completed and submitted your assignment for the previous part. Please note that Task 3 is a bonus task; thus, it is optional and not required for program completion.

Now, let’s get started!

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 10-15 hours to complete.

Skills Learned:

  • CladToAssist Customs Matter: Classification
Draft an email for a senior White & Case attorney based on your review and analysis of information from CladToAssist’s in-house counsel, as well as applicable rules and administrative case law.

    • Legal Analysis
    • Email Communication
  • CladToAssist Customs Matter: Country of Origin
Find relevant administrative and judicial case law, and draft a ruling request to be submitted to U.S. Customs & Border Protection.

    • Legal Research
    • Information Gathering
    • Legal Analysis
    • Legal Writing
  • CladToAssist Customs Matter: Valuation (Optional Task)
Draft a short memorandum of law for the client opining as to how it can best ensure that its proposed commercial activity complies with one important U.S. legal requirement. Task 3 is optional for learners who want to expand their knowledge, but this task is not necessary for program completion.
