The State of U.S. Science and Engineering 2022 NSF Report

The National Science Foundation conducts research and provides reporting on outcomes in education and careers related to STEM disciplines. In their newest report they state that STEM employment has grown significantly over time and that projections indicate it will continue to grow.

“Workers in STEM occupations have higher median earnings and lower unemployment than their non-STEM counterparts. In 2019, STEM workers earned a median annual salary of $55,000, and non-STEM workers earned a median annual salary of $33,000. Also in 2019, unemployment was lower among the STEM labor force (2%) than the non-STEM labor force (4%).” Excerpt taken from NSF report subsection The STEM Labor Market and the Economy
