Why you and all your friends should be going to TUTORING

There are tons of reasons why tutoring is a great resource for students. For many college students, tutoring can mean the difference between a failing and passing grade. Some students find attending tutoring scary, embarrassing, or intimidating, but the tutors are there to help and be a resource! Tutors are often other undergraduate students that have previously taken the courses they are tutoring in and just want to be a resource to help you be as successful as possible. Try taking a friend the first time you attend! If you need help convincing them, here’s why you and your friends should be attending tutoring:

One-on-one, individualized attention

Attending tutoring gives you an opportunity to work one-on-one with a tutor to work on specific areas of difficulty for you. Possibly you are having a hard time adapting to your instructors teaching style. Working with a tutor can give you the opportunity to hear your course information from a new perspective and to ask questions without the pressure of being in a big lecture hall.

Improves academic performance

Working with a tutor regularly helps you learn new class information as it gives you an opportunity to work with the information outside of class. The more you work with information, the more conformable you are with it, the better you will do on exams and homework. You will see a difference in your grades!

Create effective study habits

Attending tutoring regularly can help you develop effective study habits. Building tutor times into your weekly schedule and can help ensure you set enough time aside to work on homework as well as study the information. Look at when you have breaks throughout the day, maybe in between classes, and see if there is tutoring for one or more of your courses during this time. Make a habit of attending then where you can ask questions, clarify confusing ideas, and develop good weekly study habits.

Flexible schedules and locations

Tutoring times available at WSU are offered Monday to Sunday at all hours of the day, in-person and online! If you are unable to attend your professors’ office hours, it’s likely there is a tutor session that works in your schedule!

You will feel confident walking into your next class!

Many times, students leave class lectures feeling confused or unsure about what they just learned. Going to tutoring gives you an opportunity to finish making sense of new class material and improve your understanding before the next lecture.

Tutoring can be an intimidating resource to use if you are new to it but once you start attending, you will realize how beneficial it is! Check out when and where you can get tutoring for your courses HERE. Just click the Red Button “Find your tutor”!
