The Registrar’s Office will Discontinue students after one year of not being enrolled in classes which will automatically remove all advisors. Sometimes a student will still have an advisor on record while they have not been attending because they have not yet been Discontinued. If you ever see that someone is Discontinued or know that they will not be returning to Pullman, we can take the files at the ASCC as long as the student was not admitted to major. When the file is sent to us, we move them to an Inactive Advise by Committee option and all individual advisors are removed.

When it is possible, please forward their physical files to 1061.

***Extra Notes for Advisors who give PCODES

Also we want to always say thank you for providing the extra details for the student such as the pcodes, Honors plan, and/or cc’d advisors. It saves us time and helps us process requests more efficiently and we recognize this is an extra step that many advisors do not do.

Hello ____,

The following student (name and student ID) contacted the ASCC today to update their student account. Students are not permitted to request admit to major changes or being released from a major.

Will you please confirm that a conversation was had with this student and that the student understands how their graduation date and requirements might be affected if they are released from major to non-admitted AI? Once we have advisor confirmation, we will process the change.

Unable to Process – General Requests

Unable to Process Additional Majors/Minors:

The Registrar’s Office is the department where they can add minors, open and close degree plans, as well as add an additional major to the student’s active account. For now we can add the advisor but the “Student Program Plan Action Form” will need to be filled out. You can find the form at the following link: https://registrar.wsu.edu/plan/#theform

Unable to process Post-Bacc to Undergraduate Degree-Seeking status:

 Hi ____,

We are not able to change post-bacc degree codes to undergraduate degree-seeking codes as the codes relate to the student’s classification. The distinction with post-bacc students is that each of them are listed in MyWSU with a “P4710_NCPB” Non-Certified Post-Bacc plan code when they are admitted instead of the P0000 “Undergraduate Degree-Seeking code. We are not allowed to change the p-code/admit them unless an advisor requests the certification just like with any other student. We can add the appropriate program advisor for post-baccs upon their request or yours.

OR

Because the student’s status is listed as a Non-Cert Post-Bacc, MyWSU will not allow us to add an undergraduate degree-seeking plan code. When they are eligible to certify as a Non-Cert PB, their program and plan will enable more details to be added to their student account. Their advisor has been added in the meantime.

This student’s account is currently Discontinued. MyWSU does not let us save changes to the student account until it is re-activated by Admissions or the Registrar’s Office. Please notify us when the student is reactivated. Thank you!

Murrow – Communication AI interest

Hi ____,

We have been asked to not transition students to any COM majors unless they have met with an advisor in COM first. Please have the student schedule an appointment with one of the Murrow advisors by calling their office at (509) 335-7333 or visit during their Zoom-in (AKA drop-in) hours. After one of their advisors meet with the student they will admit them into Murrow under their intended major and assign them the advisor.
