FAQ from Walk-Ins or Phone Calls

  1. How do I defer my admissions for next semester?
    • “Hi STUDENT NAME. You will want to reach out to the Office of Admissions and inform them that you would like to defer your admissions. They will be able to provide with information on how to do. If you are receiving financial aid, you will also want to get in contact with Student Financial Services and inform them of your deferred admissions” (Provide student with Office of Admissions’ contact information. Encourage student to leave a voicemail and to follow-up with an email.)

 

  1. I was recently awarded a scholarship, but it is not showing up on my account. When will the scholarship be posted to my account?
  • “Hi STUDENT NAME you will want to reach out Student Financial Services. They will be able to provide you with an update on the status of your scholarship and estimate on when the loan will be posted to your account. They will also be able to provide with any additional steps that may be needed in order to have the scholarship posted to your account”

 

  1. Why hasn’t my student loan gone through and posted to my account?
  • “Hi STUDENT NAME you will want to reach out to Student Financial Services. They will be able to provide you with an update on the status of your loan and estimate on when the loan will be posted to your account  You can reach Student Financial Services at financialaid@wsu.edu or call them at (509) 335.9711. Be sure to provide them with Student Financial Services’ contact information.

 

  1. How do I know if I need to fill out SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress)?
  • Hi STUDENT NAME, you will want to reach out Student Financial Services. They will be able to inform you if you need to fill out an SAP form along with information on how to submit the form

 

  1. How do I schedule an appoint with a career coach?
  • Hi STUDENT, to schedule an appointment with a career coach you will want to sign into Handshake. On the top right of there should be a “Career Section” button click on that. It will then take you to a new page and on the left side there should be an “Appointment” button. Once you click on the Appointment button, on the next page you will want to select “Academic Success and Career Center”.

 

  1. How do I defer my housing to Spring 2021?
  • Hi STUDENT, in order to defer your housing for the Spring 2021 you will want to contact Housing. They will be able to provide you with information on how to defer housing and how to submit the form.

 

  1. I am thinking about taking classes at the community college and having those credits transfer to WSU. How will my classes transfer over to WSU and receive the credit for them?
  • HI STUDENT you will want to reach out to our Transfer Center. They will be able to check if those classes will be transferred over as well help you come up with a schedule.

 

  1. I am trying to get the books I need for the classes I need, but how do I know what version of the book I need?
  • Hi STUDENT, the instructor will provide you with the books as well as the version of the book(s) you will need for your class. However, you can always reach out to the instructor listed for the class and let them know you would like to know the version of the book(s) needed and if there will be any additional course materials needed.

 

  1. I am on the waitlist for one of my classes. Can you enroll me into the class?
  • HI STUDENT, typically students on the waitlist can be enrolled into the course, since students make changes to their schedule that first week of classes. You can always reach out to the instructor and inform them what number you are on the waitlist and if you are able to be enrolled into the course.

 

  1. I am having some difficulty figuring out what classes I need to take for my major. Can you tell me what classes I need?
  • Hi STUDENT, I am not able to advise you on the classes you would need to take for your major due to not being an advisor. You will want to schedule an appointment with your advisor through SSC Navigate. However, if you are not able to schedule an appointment with your advisor, here at the ASCC we will be hosting virtual drop-ins today from 2-4 pm, or we can help you schedule an appointment.

 

  1. I have an undergraduate advising hold on my account, and I am not able to register for classes for the upcoming semester. Can you please remove my undergraduate advising hold?
  • Hi STUDENT, I am not able to remove the undergraduate advising hold. The undergraduate advising hold indicates that you have not met with you to schedule classes for the upcoming semester. You will want to schedule an appointment with your advisor through SSC Navigate, if you have not done so yet. However, if you are not able to schedule an appointment with your advisor, here at the ASCC we will be hosting virtual drop-ins today from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm.

 

  1. I have an account balance past due on my account. Can I make payments?
  • Hi STUDENT, yes you can make payments towards the amount that is due. You will have to contact the Bursars office and see if they are willing to put you on a payment plan. The Bursar’s office email is office@wsu.edu and their phone number is 509-335-9653.

 

 

 

COVID-19 Questions

What buildings will be open on campus?

  • The buildings open will be the UREC, Chinook, CUE, Spark and the CUB with limited capacity. The dining halls will also be open for to go orders.

Will the library be open?

  • The library will not be open during the Fall 2020 semester. However, the CUE, Spark, and the CUB will be open with limited capacity.

Will the Spring 2021 semester be online?

  • WSU has not made an announcement addressing what Spring semester will be. WSU is currently working with our healthcare authorities on how to proceed and ore information will be released later this semester.
